Appointed first sergeant, assigned to guard prisoners in Memphis, Tenn. He died in a military hospital At Cairo, Ill., March 12, 1865 and was buried in section B, grave 2,263, in Mound City, Ill. John Olsen Wrolstad (A2-B) Enlisted November 5, 1861, in Company I, 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment, serving until Feb. 10, 1865. This colorful and masterfully crafted quilt was done by Mathea Johannesdatter Norde between 1861 and 1865 as she waited for her betrothed, John Olsen Wrolstad (A2-B) to return from the Civil War. Mathea and John were married in 1867. They had 12 children. The quilt is in a special collection at Vesterheim, Norwegian-American Museum, Decorah, Iowa. Kenneth Bergen Collection
